The group of spiders known as the araneomorphs are generally regarded as the more advanced spiders. They have a number of distinguishing features, one of the most obvious of which is the fact that the fangs act against each other rather than in parallel. They are mostly hunting or web-building spiders and there is much variation in their size and shape.
