Orb weaving spiders date back as far as 144 million years. The oldest such spider and web have been found in amber that is at least 110 million years old. The picture shows a female orbweaver on her web. The male, who is much smaller, is on the web near the top of the picture.

Some species of wasps make paper. Bees live in wax combs and cells whereas some wasps chew wood into a pulp with their saliva and take millions of wasp hours into creating great wasp cities made of combs of hexagonal cells. However they only use them for one season and so have to make a new home every year.
