Scorpions

On a world scale, Australian scorpions are relatively innocuous, with very few deaths reliably documented. Local pain and swelling are the major clinical problems following Australian scorpion stings. First aid consists of the application of iced water and analgesia if required.

First Aid Information: Scorpion

No Australian species of scorpion are known to be particularly dangerous, although all possess a venomous sting.

In painful cases of envenomation, the application of ice-packs may reduce pain. Analgesia or topical anaesthetic agents may be required in extreme cases.
