Caterpillars & Moths (Lepidoptera)

what does this mean? First Aid for envenomation by this species show the distribution of these species
A number of species of caterpillars posess hairs or spines which are venomous. Some of these species retain their venomous status as adults, their abdomen being coated with fine, venomous hairs. The effects can range from mild irritation and discomfort through to swelling and severe pain. Another problem is the possibility of allergy to the venom, and in severe cases, anaphylaxis. Direct contact with the insect is not always necessary for a reaction to develop, since the hairs may be left behind on clothing hung outside to dry which, when worn, transfers the venomous hairs to the skin.Euproctis lutea
