Commonly, huntsman spiders are found in houses, often entering at night in warm weather or after rain. They do not build a web, but hunt for insects. They are the largest spiders in temperate Australia as well as being fast moving and looking quite fearsome, but they are not at all aggressive. Bites are rare, but may sometimes result in local symptoms, such as pain and swelling.
