Welcome to the Australian Venom Compendium.

ABOUT THE COMPENDIUM

The Australian Venom Compendium is a resource for the general public, students, research scientists and clinicians. It details Australia’s most venomous creatures, envenomation treatment regimes (current and historical), symptoms and causes of envenomation, published resources, a glossary of terms and more. The compendium complements and overlaps with the AVRU website.

HOW TO USE THE COMPENDIUM

Word Search

The Search facility allows you to look for information and publications based on key words and names. Simply hit on the Search link and enter your search term in the appropriate field.

Category Search

Entities are grouped alphabetically into categories. The contents of each category is displayed below. For example, if you want details of all the people involved in venom research, without having to know individual names go directly to the People category.

Alphabetical Search

Entities are also listed alphabetically (uncategorised). The alphabetical list is displayed in the green bar below. For example, if you want to view all material on Antivenom without having to know which category it falls into, click on A in the green bar.
