A key activity of the Australian Venom Unit is to provide medical advice on envenomations, antivenoms and related issues to doctors, veterinarians, paramedical staff and poisons information centres, as well as zoos, reptile parks and keepers, various workplaces, government departments and the military, Australia-wide and internationally. The major achievement of this service is a 24 hour consultancy service for doctors and paramedics. Key collaborators involved in this service are CSL Ltd, Victorian Poisons Information Centre, VIC, Queensland Poisons Information Centre, QLD, Divers Alert Network (DAN) and Australasian College of Emergency Medicine, Australia.
