| Together with Melbourne Zoo, the AVRU hosted the third national Exotic Snake Forum during November 2006. This meeting brought together doctors, zoo keepers, state and federal authorities and other institutions involved in the importation, keeping, and showing of exotic snakes as well as those treating exotic snakebites. The meeting considered diverse topics related to exotic snakes and featured a range of national and international speakers, including AVRU Fellow and internationally renown herpetologist Dr Mark O'Shea.
