| Mr David Williams, an AVRU PhD Student working on snakebite in Papua New Guinea, has been awarded the inaugural PhD scholarship from the University of Melbourne's Nossal Institute of Global Health. This new scholarship, the only one of its kind in Australia, provides David with a 3-year stipend and travel allowance to support his work to improve the plight of the snake bitten patients in PNG. David is currently undertaking prospective studies of snakebite at Port Moresby General Hospital.
