Distribution
Species distribution of spiders provides limited aid to their identification, but may be of some use.
- Most species of dangerous spider are found throughout the continent.
- Sydney funnelwebs are found only within a 160km radius of Sydney.
- Various other species of funnelweb, considered less dangerous, are found along the east coast from southeast Queensland to central Victoria and eastern Tasmania.
- Mouse spiders, similar to funnelwebs, are found throughout the mainland, but not in Tasmania.
