First aid for scorpion envenomation is analgesia.
Despite the abundance in Australia of highly dangerous species of many different types of animal, there are no Australian species of scorpion known to cause severe illness.
Signs and Symptoms
- Pain at the sting site and surrounding area. This may range anywhere from mild to quite severe and be of several hours' duration.
- Local swelling and erythema
- Nausea and vomiting
- Mild tachycardia
Treatment
- Antihistamine
- Appropriate analgesia
