Bullants, measuring up to 30mm long or more, are among the world's largest ants. Their correspondingly large jaws, up to 5mm in length, can inflict a painful bite. They are also quite aggressive and won't hesitate to attack when disturbed. When they bite, they curl the abdomen around in order to deliver the sting, which causes severe pain and a burning sensation. This venom frequently causes allergies in humans, and an anaphylactic response to bullant venom can be fatal. |
