Stingray
While stingay spines contain venom, the tissue damage and possibility of infection may be more important considerations.
Immersing the stung area in very warm water may reduce the pain of stingray envenomation. Pressure-immobilisation first aid not is not recommended, since it may increase the severity of local pain.
Analgesia or topical anaesthetic agents may be required following a sting.
The wound should be regarded as possibly contaminated, and tetanus prophylaxis should be updated if required. Medical attention should be sought in order to assess the appropriate treatment of the wound.
