Abstract

Reprinted in Nature. 53:569-572, 1896 Small amounts of venom may produce alarming symptoms but death does not always follow hence difficult to evaluate antidotes in patients; illustrations from the literature of the supposed immunity of snake handlers or charmers to snake venom; gift of Australian venoms from Dr. Thomas Bancroft; immunization of animals with cobra venom; the MLD of the venom of a large unidentified Australian snake in rabbits; immunization of rabbits with this venom gave some cross-protection against other venoms.
