Abstract

The in vitro cross-neutralisation power of two mono-specific C.S.L, antivenenes - tiger snake and sea snake (Enhydrina schistosa) - was tested against the following sea snake venoms Hydrophis maj or, Hydrophis elegans, Hydrophis cyanocinctus, Hydrophis spiralis, Lapemis hardwickii, Astrotia stokesii, Enhydrina schistosa, Aipysurus laevis, Laticauda semifasciata - and tiger snake venom using mice and saline agar gel immuno-diffusion patterns as indicators; both antivenenes cross-neutralized all the sea snake venoms; tiger snake antivenene was the more active; units and millilitres of each antivenene required to neutralize the average venom yield of each species are given.
