Advanced Medical Science (AMS) Student

Patricia is currently in her third year of study for the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Melbourne, with expected completion in 2010. For the sixth and seventh semesters of her six year course, she is undertaking an Advanced Medical Science research project for her Bachelor of Medical Science, under Doctors Ken Winkel and Roger Lowe at AVRU. She will construct a database on conopeptides - the venom components of marine cone snails, a natural source of drug design leads and receptor research agents. Having never traveled overseas, she is looking forward to collaborating with Professor Vladimir Brusic at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA.
