Laura Greisman

Fulbright Scholar

Laura Greisman is a Fulbright Scholar who will be looking specifically at the evolution, toxinology and health significance of venomous fish under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Kenneth Winkel. She graduated from Cornell University in New York State (January 2006) with a BA in Biology (Neurobiology and Behaviour). Through her Fulbright Award, Laura will fuse together her academic interests of neurobiology, marine biology and medicine. She believes that the prospect of identifying venoms that might someday be modified to unlock the mysteries of inflammatory, hematologic, or neurologic diseases is compelling. After completing a year of research at the AVRU she plans on attending medical school and later specializing in the clinical aspects of envenomation.
